Midzi commends church for helping orphans, widows

in helping orphans and widows and initiating income-generating projects.
Cde Midzi was speaking at Zinyengere primary school in Epworth where Christ Alive Gospel Ministries Trust donated clothing, maize and books to 400 people in the area.
“It is vital for the church to work hand in hand with Government since they both want the best for the people.
“Zimbabweans are now illegible to start their own churches. It is high time we desist from kneeling down at foreign NGOs and start our own; churches are a good example.
“Many of our people have been surviving on handouts from NGOs and some of them in-turn interfere with our politics.” he said.
Cde Midzi said the church has contributed immensely to the well being of the underprivileged.
“The West are saying ‘what good can come out of Zimbabwe?’ and I believe a lot and that we shall be the recipients of much blessings in due course as we learn from the churches’ contribution to the rebuilding of the nation
“As a moral guardian of society, the church should interpret Biblical standards of hope and patriotism to articulate the western influence in our domestic issues then advocate an end to oppression by the so-called super powers” he said.
Cde Midzi said Epworth needs more attention because it has a large number of disadvantaged people.
Cde Midzi also donated 20 blankets to orphans and 400 hundred-exercise books to Zinyengere Primary School.
He has also been paying fees for all primary school pupils in Epworth.
Meanwhile, the chairperson for Christ Alive Gospel Ministries Trust Bishop Tichaona Maume said it was high time the church shifts from the gospel of prosperity and focus more on projects that empower local people.
“We have been empowered by Government and we have the authority to pray the way we want.
“Churches should take this opportunity to start more income generating projects so as to complement Government’s effort to empower people.
“We also have the duty to encourage men to support women in developmental projects.”
“The bible warns us against fighting our leaders, so the Christian community should know that leadership comes from God.”
Ruwa-Epworth district administrator Mrs Benedicta Mubayiwa also donated five blankets to widows.
