Mighty Bulls to sharpen strikeforce

The Mighty Bulls edged a Dynamos side, featuring fringe players, 1-0 in the third place play-off of the Bob ’88 Super Cup at Rufaro on Sunday.
Midfielder Isaac Madziva scored the solitary goal and, although they had the better of the exchanges, Antipas believes the Bulls can do better, especially in front of goal.

They are now looking forward to another good result that should take them into the first round and the Mighty Bulls mentor is not convinced by his frontline after watching the side’s performance against Dynamos at the weekend. “Indeed this was a good game to prepare for the return leg against Leopards next week,” said Antipas. “We are still trying to find the right combinations going forward. It’s coming up but we need to work more on our attack because we are lacking the killer instinct in front of goal. Otherwise we are on track. The guys still need to improve on keeping the ball since we were losing possession unnecessarily.”
The Mighty Bulls were the better side after the restart, especially in the midfield, where their opponents did not give much of a fight.
The second half introduction of veteran Isaac Masame tilted the game in their favour and it was the midfielder who provided the cross that resulted in the goal in the 55th minute.
DeMbare were on the backfoot most of the time, save for occasional positive and aggressive displays by Tichaona Mabvura and Devon Chafa.
DeMbare had rested most of their senior players and gave starting places to players like Philip Nhete in goals, Partson Jaure, Norman Maroto, Mabvura while other youngsters like Brian Five, Lovenec Chapfukwa and Leeroy Murape came from the bench.
Young defender, Jaure, stood out with a polished act at the heart of the Dynamos defence.
Pasuwa also revealed that the injury list keeps growing with big striker Takesure Chinyama the latest casualty after picking a knee injury in the match against the Warriors.
“The goal we conceded was a result of a defensive blunder but there were many positives about our backline,” said Pasuwa. “It’s encouraging that we now see our defenders playing the ball from the back but the midfielders were not coming to collect. We were sitting back a lot. I think we were too cautious and taking long to come out of our half.”
