German crew to film Pagels’ work

expatriate, whose contract expires next year after it was extended by a year, has been working here since 2010 on a government to government agreement.
He specialises in junior development programes as well and helping women’s football and last year facilitated a two-week training programme for the Mighty Warriors in Germany. 
And his employers back home, the Germany Olympic Federation, have organised a television crew to come here and package a documentary of what Pagels has been doing in this country.
The team will film the German conducting a grassroots football coaching course in Bindura on Thursday.
He will then attend a grassroots football festival at Belvedere Primary where the primary school has partnered with Wiepenkathen primary school from Stade, Pagels’ hometown, and has been receiving support from the European school.
The television crew will also be at the Under-14 Boys’ inter-provincial football tournament on Friday and Saturday at Gwanzura.
The inter-provincial tournament, a football festival which will see the cream of the junior boys from the country’s 10 provinces converging at Gwanzura, is being funded by the German Olympic Committee.
The Germans forked about           US$15 000 towards the project and, for the past two months, all the 10 provinces had district tournaments to select one provincial team.
The teams will slug it out on Friday, culminating into the finals on Saturday.
The crew will spend two days at Gwanzura as they prepare a documentary.
They will conclude their programe by watching a Caf Confederations Cup match between Motor Action and Black Leopards at Rufaro on Sunday.
The delegation was also expected to film the German expert’s work with the Mighty Warriors and wanted to capture footage of the senior national team in action.
But that will not be possible after Zifa failed to get a country to travel here to play the Mighty Warriors.
Yesterday, Pagels said everything was on course for the crew to arrive this morning before they start their programe tomorrow with a meeting with officials from the German Embassy in Harare.
“We will start our programe as planned though we had hoped that we would get a match featuring the Mighty Warriors but there is nothing,” said Pagels.
