THE Zimbabwe senior women’s national football team has announced its squad for next month’s Four Nations tournament set to be held in Zambia during the June FIFA international window.

The Mighty Warriors are expected to compete against hosts Zambia, Kenya and Burkina Faso in a tournament that will provide crucial preparation ahead of upcoming international assignments, including Olympic qualifiers.

Coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda has named a blend of experienced players and emerging talent as Zimbabwe continues rebuilding its women’s national team.

The tournament presents an important opportunity for the technical team to assess combinations, build chemistry and expose players to high-level international competition against some of Africa’s improving women’s football nations.

Zambia are expected to provide the sternest test in the competition following their rise as one of the continent’s strongest women’s football sides in recent years.

The Mighty Warriors will also use the tournament to gain valuable match fitness and sharpen tactical preparations ahead of future qualifiers.

Zimbabwe’s women’s football team continues working towards returning to the levels that saw the country qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, a landmark achievement for local women’s football.
