when they plunge into action for their opening international friendly against a women’s Division Two side TV Eintracht Immenbeck tonight.
The match kick-offs at 7.30pm.
Rosemary Mugadza’s charges have vowed to give it their best against the second tier club and are treating the friendly match seriously.
Yesterday captain and goalkeeper Onai Chingawo said the players are geared up and were excited at the prospects of playing against European opposition.
Chingawo believes the games they will play during their tour of duty to Germany will provide them with the perfect platform to showcase their talent.
“We are serious about all the matches we are going to play here and we will play just like what we did when we played the Cosafa matches.
“We believe we can market ourselves here if we really do well and someone might get lucky and get a contract to play here.
“We have been having gym sessions and training twice a day and everyone in the team is really working hard.
“I am sure after two weeks there will be a difference in terms of our conditioning. Everyone is just motivated and the workouts are exciting,” said Chingawo.
Mighty Warriors midfielder Marjoury Nyaumwe who was the outstanding player at the just ended Cosafa tournament is also hoping to attract the attention of the local teams.
“If there is an opportunity we have to use it because it is not every day that that you get a chance to train and play friendly matches in Germany.
“I will also play my heart out. It is just like any other competitive match.
“Everything is okay, we have good facilities and in Zimbabwe it is not everyday that we get a chance to go to the gym,” said Nyaumwe.
Everyone here is excited about hosting Zimbabwe with billboards and posters all over the small town.
On Monday night a local company Ergo Victoria donated three pairs of training kits, t-shirts and 50 balls to the visitors at a brief reception for the Zimbabwean delegation.
The president of VFL Stade, which is hosting the Zimbabwean delegation said they feel honoured to be hosting an African national team.
“We are proud to be your hosts. We hope the camp would be successful for your team and association.
“You will see some things you haven’t seen and go back to Zimbabwe with some memories.
“The teams here are waiting for you and want to see how you play and your tactics,” said the president.
At the same reception, the Mighty Warriors head of delegation and Zifa technical director Nelson Matongerere said Zimbabwe will be seeking to build a long lasting relationship with the hosts.
“We want to build a strong relationship with the German Football Association and the Olympic Federation whereby coaches, administrators and players would be coming here for exchange programmes,” said Matongorere.
Zimbabwe’s next match would be on Wednesday but it is on Saturday when they will play a high profile game against the German Student national team.
The Mighty Warriors will then complete their schedule of matches with a date against Bundesliga team Hamburger SV next Wednesday.
