ZIMBABWE senior women’s national team coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda is unusually joyful and in good spirits these days.
The former Mighty Warriors skipper finds herself chuffed by all the work and effort that has gone into Zimbabwe’s preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations first-round qualifier against Angola next week.
The Mighty Warriors will face Angola in a two-legged tie that will see Zimbabwe visit Luanda on February 20 and then play the reverse fixture in South Africa on February 26.
Sibanda, who has been at the helm of the Mighty Warriors technical team since her appointment last year, expressed deep gratitude towards the ZIFA board, players, and technical staff for their unwavering support during the preparations.
“Let me extend my gratitude to my technical team, who have been working very hard and working very well with me.
“In fact, my gratitude goes towards everyone who has been supporting us, and I want to say “thank you very much” to them,” she said. Sibanda seems rather satisfied with the progress the girls are making as a team and believes, collectively, they have what it takes to bring back positive results.
“I would like to acknowledge the collective efforts that have gone into readying the team for the upcoming international challenge.
“There has been a need for unity and commitment, which we received, and both have played a pivotal role in our journey.
“We are happy that, after the elections, the board made sure that everything is there for us to start our training and preparations.
“The girls have been working very hard, morale is very high, and the team spirit is also good.
“We have Ruvimbo Mucherera here, who is the only foreign-based in camp, and the girls welcomed her with open arms.
“She is adapting well to the team, and I believe that this will drive her to perform even better.
“We are looking forward to meeting the others at the match venue,” she added.
