Mighty Warriors maintain home record

Captain Onai Chingawo, who pulled off a number of top-drawer saves denying Banyana Banyana goals, was delighted at beating their neighbours.
Chingawo said she had warned Banyana at a Press conference that they needed to be at their best.
“As the captain of the squad, it’s a honour to wear the armband and I am thrilled that during the match I did not concede,” Chingawo said.
The captain was happy that all players, who were thrown in the fray, delivered.
Chingawo believes the win was sweet as they managed to hit back at Banyana Banyana for the 4-1 thrashing the Southern neighbours handed the Mighty Warriors at this year’ All-Africa Games in Maputo.
“The win is a morale booster ahead of next year’ African Women Championships set for Equatorial Guinea.
“I want to salute the fans for rallying behind the team,” said Chingawo.
Mighty Warriors’ midfield genius, Marjory Nyaumwe, whose stock continues to rise, was delighted with the big win.
“It’s a big occasion for the whole squad, as we beat our rivals and we have managed to maintain our home record of winning,” Nyaumwe said.
Nyaumwe believes their performance told the true story of how the Mighty Warriors are slowly emerging as a force to reckon with in the region.
“If our team was entered into the Olympics Games, we could have done wonders by qualifying for the Games, as our game has scaled new heights,” said Nyaumwe.
Education, Sport, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Lazurus Dokora, praised the Mighty Warriors’ performance.
“The first point is that we have showed that Banyana Banyana play second fiddle to us at home and best wishes to them at the 2012 London Olympic Games,” Dokora said.
“I challenge the companies to enter into partnership with women football, as now it’s a marketable brand worthy of support.”
