THE Mighty Warriors have stepped up their preparations for the Zambia Four Nations Tournament after all invited players finally reported for camp ahead of the regional women’s showcase set for Lusaka.
The Zimbabwe senior women’s national team will begin their campaign against Lesotho at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on June 6, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30pm.
Hosts Zambia will then face Kenya in the second semi-final later that day.
The tournament will provide a crucial platform for the Mighty Warriors technical team to assess combinations and fine-tune the squad as Zimbabwe continuesits rebuilding process on the international stage.
The good news for coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda and her technical team is that every player called into camp is now available, allowing the team to train at full strength ahead of the trip to Zambia.
Victory over Lesotho would book Zimbabwe a place in the final scheduled for June 9 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Defeat would see the Mighty Warriors contest the third-place playoff on the same day.
The four-nation competition has attracted some of the region’s most competitive women’s teams, with Zambia, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Lesotho all using the tournament to sharpen their squads ahead of future continental assignments.
