IN a massive endorsement of the quality of upmarket housing estates emerging in Harare, WestProp’s highrise Millennium Heights has been named the best mixed-use development in Africa.
It has also been voted the best residential high rise development on the continent.
The awards were handed out at the Laufen European and African Property Awards at the Marriot Hotel in London last week.
WestProp picked four awards of excellence.
Two of the awards are five stars and underline WestProp’s commitment to excellence, innovation and quality in property development.
The company, which runs vibrant and interactive social media platforms, had its website voted as the best property developer website in Zimbabwe.
It also won the best property development marketing award in Zimbabwe following breathtaking images of The Hills Luxury Lifestyle Golf Estate, which is under construction. The third award was in the residential property development +20 units following the impressive Pokugara residential units.
The high-rise Millennium Heights apartments were recognised as the best mixed-use development in Africa and best residential high rise development on the continent, capping a memorable London night for Chief Operating Officer Mrs Tatiana Ellis who was on hand to receive the accolades.
“We have been recognised internationally as a formidable player in the property development sector. I am so proud to represent the company and, of course, Zimbabwe,” said Mrs Ellis.
“We have done it. Winning four awards was no mean feat. It was an honour to represent Zimbabwe. We will continue to work hard to put our country on the world map for good things.”
This year marked 28 years of the awards existence.
The awards attract entries from top developers, architects and designers worldwide.
Judging criteria for the awards include architecture and design, quality and construction, innovation and originality, sustainability and environmental impact, marketing and customer service.
WestProp CEO Mr Ken Sharpe, who is now delegating most of the work to subordinates in an endeavour to groom his team, was a happy man.
“These awards inspire us to continue pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional projects that enhance the lives of our customers and communities,” he said.
“I am happy our policy of self-management is paying off. Just recently we had a team marketing our products in Cape Town and now another team is in the United Kingdom collecting awards.
“I do not have to do all the work,” he said.
