Milton Easter Rugby Festival fixtures out

THE fixtures for the 2023 Milton Easter Rugby Festival set to take place from March 31 to April 1 at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds in Bulawayo have been released by the tournament organisers.

The festival, sponsored by Pony Club Investments, will be the first of the year after the previous year was closed on a high note with another fiesta, the Unforgettable Rugby Festival held at the same venue. The tournament will attract teams from around the country and across the borders.

A total of 22 matches will be played across the two fields at the venue. Some of the local and outside teams that are taking part include, the Milton Elephants, Churchill Bulldogs, Botswana Under-19 Vultures, Western Suburbs Panthers, Christian Brothers College (CBC) Hornets, Lomagundi Bisons, Plumtree Amabhubesi, Wise Owl, Alan Wilson Sables and Petra Spartans.

The fiesta comes after the completion of the Bulawayo Metropolitan Rugby Football Board (BMRFB) Under-20 League just over a week ago. The league was won by Hornets after a clinical performance throughout the five weeks which saw them win all their games, including a 40-5 thumping of Old Miltonians (OMs) in their last game.

The league was used as preparations for the upcoming festival as the organisers try to revive the sport in the city and have it played in as many schools as possible. More festivals are expected to take place this year.

Day one

B-Field Under-16: Plumtree v Western Suburbs, Hornets v Nkulumane, Milton v Allan Wilson, Goromonzi v Churchill, Petra v Wise Owl.

Main Field: Milton seconds v Goromonzi, Western Suburbs v Plumtree, Churchill v Botswana, Petra v Wise Owl, Milton v Alan Wilson, Hornets v Watershed College.

Day two

B-Field Under-16: Plumtree v Goromonzi, Western Suburbs v Petra, Hornets v Allan Wilson, Wise Owl v Nkulumane, Milton v Churchill.

Main Field: Goromonzi v Western Suburbs, Watershed v Allan Wilson, Petra v Lomagundi, Plumtree v Wise Owl, Hornets v Botswana, Milton v Churchill.
