Mining indaba preps on course

The event, which is being organised by Utho Capital, to run under the theme “Improving Mining Through Continuous Dialogue, Infrastructure and Financing,” is expected to draw key mining stakeholders from Sadc.

“The mining conference is now a permanent fixture and international event for Zimbabwe, which will be held in Harare from 12 to 14 September 2012. The Zimbabwe Mining Indaba 2012 will focus on mining, infrastructure and finance, which are so integral to the success of any economy that is driven by the mining sector.

“Further, the conference this year will have a regional focus with prominent speakers and stakeholders from Sadc and the rest of Africa,” said organisers of the business event on their website.

Utho Capital said as part of the mining indaba preparations, registration of delegates has begun with top decision makers from across the continent and internationally from sectors such as exploration and mining having confirmed participation.

The mining indaba presents a significant and relevant opportunity for diverse organisations and individuals.

The mining indaba offers a platform to identify mining opportunities in Zimbabwe and keep up to date with developments in the sector.

It is also hoped that the conference will address economic growth challenges by exposing vast potential investment areas to local and foreign investors

Zimbabwe is expected to become one of the key economic drivers of the regional economy in the next few years if the country’s mining industry continues registering positive growth trajectory.

Presenting the mid-term fiscal policy review statement, Finance Minister Tendai Biti reviewed upwards this year’s mining industry growth target from 15,9 percent to 16,7 percent on the back of firming of mineral prices on the international market.
