Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Frederick Shava, called for greater cooperation between countries and organisations to build resilient socio-economic systems.
In a speech to mark Europe Day in Harare, Minister Shava highlighted the increasing number of global threats facing nations.
He said these include terrorism, conflicts between nations, climate change, pandemics and natural disasters, emphasising that “sustainable peace and inclusive development are key to creating a better world for all and the future we want”.
He also expressed Zimbabwe’s appreciation for the European Union’s efforts to improve relations with Zimbabwe and its ongoing support through the Team Europe Initiative, which aims to support greener and climate-smart agriculture, gender equality and mainstreaming.
He said Zimbabwe’s agro-based economy appreciates funding towards the improvement of the agricultural sector.
“In the face of these global challenges, the need for cooperation has never been more critical and urgent.
“It is therefore imperative for all countries and organisations to work together to build resilient socio-economic systems.
“Sustainable peace and inclusive development are key to creating a better world for all and the future we want,” he said.
“We appreciate these efforts and hope that we will continue to enhance the relations between the government and the European Union for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
“Zimbabwe’s economy is agro-based, and we, therefore, appreciate funding that is allocated towards the improvement of our agricultural sector,” he said.
