Minister Chombo tours WIH-ZIM cement plant in Magunje

The WIH-ZIM cement manufacturing plant in Magunje, set to produce about 1,8 million tonnes of cement annually, is taking shape with the ready mix plant and brick machine already installed.

The plant, through a US$700 million investment will also produce 1,2 million tonnes of clinker annually.

Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Cde Marian Chombo, is leading a delegation of Government official on a tour of the plant.

Upon completion, the plant will contribute to employment of at least 2 000 people and significantly improve availability and price of cement.

The tour seeks to give Government an appreciation of the cement plant’s operations and regulatory bottlenecks that need to be cleared.

WIH-ZIM seeks to produce a clinker plant, power plant and ancillary facilities.
