People living with disabilities and the old aged in Murehwa North Constituency have received an assortment of groceries donated by local legislator and Cde Daniel Garwe (Zanu PF).

Cde Garwe, who is also National Housing and Social Amenities Minister, donated the groceries which included sugar, soap, flour, salt, matches and buckets courtesy of a development partner, JKM Foundation.

Speaking during the donation, Cde Garwe said Covid-19 had affected living conditions with some losing their jobs. Those living with disabilities and the old aged had not been spared.

“The President saw it fit to send legislators and us ministers to assist those in need. We are donating hampers including sugar, soap, flour and salt and we are targeting those living with disabilities and the old aged.

“We are donating to all wards in Murehwa North Constituency and we started with ward 16.

“I was also liaising with my counterpart from Murehwa West to expand that programme to that area and Murehwa South to cover it as a district,” he said.

Murehwa North has 12 wards.

Cde Garwe urged the rural folk to be vaccinated against Covid-19 to support the Government’s thrust to attain national herd immunity.

He also reiterated Zanu PF’s position that the party’s First Secretary and President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa was the sole presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

JKM Foundation, who partnered Cde Garwe on the donations, said they would continue assisting the less privileged across the country. “Covid-19 disturbed the normal way of life and Murewa people have not been spared so we decided to partner Cde Garwe in donating groceries targeting the disability, old aged people,” said JKM Foundation programmes manager Mr Gift Petro.
