The Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe, is today set to lead a high-level delegation of Government officials and key stakeholders on a final inspection of the main venue for this year’s Independence Day celebrations in Maphisa, Matabeleland South.

The inspection comes 48 hours before the country marks its 46th anniversary of independence and is aimed at assessing readiness levels while addressing any remaining logistical gaps.

Senior Government officials, security chiefs, local authority representatives and various organising committees are expected to be part of the delegation touring the venue and surrounding infrastructure.

The exercise will focus on key areas including the main arena, VIP and public seating arrangements, ablution facilities, access roads, parking zones, as well as water and electricity supply systems.

This year’s celebrations, to be held under the theme “Zim@46 – Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030,” are expected to draw thousands of people, with organisers racing against time to ensure a flawless national event.

The final inspection marks a critical step in confirming the country’s readiness to host one of its most significant national commemorations.
