BULAWAYO Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Judith Ncube has spoken at the 21st Zanu PF Annual People’s Conference with a call to address the pressing water challenges facing the province.
In her welcome remarks, she commended the ruling Zanu PF Government for its ongoing efforts to alleviate water shortages and promote developmental projects in the region.
“Bulawayo is grappling with serious water challenges, hence the need to expedite the completion of the Gwayi Shangani Dam,” said Minister Ncube, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
She said the completion of the critical project is vital for ensuring a sustainable water supply for the province.
Despite the challenges, Minister Ncube expressed gratitude for the measures already implemented by the Second Republic to mitigate water issues.
“We are thankful that the Second Republic has already put in place measures to alleviate water challenges, such as drilling boreholes in various areas as well as the aquifers project,” she noted, highlighting the Government’s proactive approach to addressing the crisis.
In addition to water resource management, Minister Ncube also pointed to the significant infrastructural development projects underway in Bulawayo, aligning with the country’s Vision 2030 goals.
The projects aim to enhance the region’s infrastructure and contribute to its economic growth.
Minister Ncube’s remarks set the tone for the conference, focusing on the government’s commitment to addressing local challenges while fostering development in line with national objectives. As the conference continues, delegates are expected to discuss further strategies for advancing the region’s infrastructure and water management initiatives.
