Zanu PF National Conference is a Constitutional meeting.

THE National People’s Conference that is being held in Bulawayo is a constitutional meeting. Holding of the annual convention is provided for in Article 6 of the Zanu PF Constitution.

According to the Zanu PF Constitution, the National People’s Conference is convened every year in ordinary sessions or at any time as an extraordinary session.

In his remarks at the Zanu PF Central Committee meeting preceding the Conference on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa, who is also the Zanu PF First Secretary said: “This Conference is defining as it marks the beginning of the third decade of convening such meetings. This is testament that Zanu PF is a constitutionally entrenched revolutionary mass-party, with a long, rich history and proud liberation war heritage.

“Since establishment, the party has always championed and promoted constructive debate as well as internal democracy.”

President Mnangagwa said Zanu PF has always rejected any practices and conduct that are inconsistent with the laws and regulations outlined in the party Constitution.

“To this end, the party Constitution, as amended in 2022, stipulates in Article 6, Sections 33 to 35, that there shall a National People’s Conference, and accordingly states its Composition, Powers and Functions..
