Zanu-PF’s Matabeleland North provincial chairperson Richard Moyo has thanked the province for its overwhelming participation in the Constitutional Amendment Act Number 3 (CAA 3) process, which culminated in the legislation becoming law.

Speaking at the Provincial Inter-District Conference here on Saturday, Cde Moyo said the province had successfully mobilised communities at grassroots level, resulting in strong participation in the constitutional amendment process.
“CAA 3 was resounding success. The province mobilised people at grassroots level for a strong turn out,” he said.

Cde Moyo said the constitutional amendment was necessary to curb recurring election cycles and preserve resources that could instead be channelled towards national development.

“CAA 3 was necessary to curb destructive election cycles and preserve resources that would have been used for elections. Those resources are now channelled for national development” he said.
He said thousands of submissions from the province were captured and presented to Parliament, reflecting the extent of public participation in the process.

The Provincial Inter-District Conference is also expected to deliberate on the presentation and adoption of resolutions for consideration at the ruling party’s National People’s Conference.
Party members are expected to deliberate on issues raised at district level before the resolutions are consolidated for presentation at the national conference.
