Zanu-PF’s resounding victories in recent by-elections in Tsholotsho and Victoria Falls are a clear demonstration that the ruling party’s policies and empowerment programmes are resonating with the masses, the party’s Matabeleland North provincial chairperson, Cde Richard Moyo has said.

Speaking at the Provincial Inter-District Conference here on Saturday, Cde Moyo commended the province for delivering decisive victories in the two local authority by-elections, saying the results reflected growing support for the policies being implemented by the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa.

“I would like to thank the province for delivering resounding victories in by-elections in Tsholotsho and Victoria Falls.
“It shows that Zanu-PF is the people’s party, empowerment programmes implemented resonate with the masses,” he said amid thunderous applause from party members.

In Tsholotsho Rural District Council, Zanu-PF secured victories in Wards 1, 10 and 21, with its candidates emerging victorious in polls characterised by moderate voter turnout.
The ruling party also swept the three contested wards in Victoria Falls, winning Wards 9, 10 and 11 and securing additional representation on the Victoria Falls Municipal Council.
Cde Moyo said the victories should strengthen party members’ resolve to intensify mobilisation and engagement with communities while ensuring that Government programmes continue to benefit ordinary people.

He also urged party members in Hwange to brace for another electoral contest ahead of the October 3 by-election for Ward 18, which covers Dete.
The Ward 18 seat became vacant following the death of councillor Stanley Torima in July.
Cde Moyo called on party structures to remain united and mobilise voters ahead of the by-election, building on the momentum generated by the party’s recent victories in Tsholotsho and Victoria Falls.
