Zanu PF Matabeleland North province is today expected to convene a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting here as the ruling party steps up preparations for its 23rd National People’s Conference scheduled for Chinhoyi in October.

The meeting is part of a nationwide consultation and mobilisation programme ahead of the conference, with party structures expected to deliberate on issues affecting their respective districts and provinces before forwarding resolutions for consideration at the national gathering.

The 23rd National People’s Conference will be held from October 12 to 17 in Chinhoyi.

As part of preparations, Districts Cordinating Committees have been directed to convene inter-district meetings to deliberate on key issues and formulate resolutions for onward submission to provincial structures.

In Matabeleland North, the process will bring together party structures from the province’s seven administrative districts — Binga, Bubi, Hwange, Lupane, Nkayi, Tsholotsho and Umguza.

The resolutions emerging from the consultations will be consolidated at provincial level before being forwarded to the national leadership for consideration at the conference.

The annual conference provides Zanu PF structures with a platform to review party programmes, assess the prevailing political and socio-economic environment and deliberate on priorities and resolutions for the year ahead.

For Matabeleland North, the meeting is expected to provide an important link between grassroots concerns and the broader issues that will be taken to the national conference.

The build-up to the Chinhoyi gathering is expected to see increased activity across the ruling party’s structures as consultations move from district to provincial level.

The 23rd National People’s Conference will bring together Zanu PF leadership and structures from across the country to deliberate on party programmes, national priorities and resolutions6 shaping the organisation’s political and socio-economic agenda.
