MINISTER of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Albert Nguluvhe, has called on members of the public and local authority representatives to take an active role in monthly national clean-up campaigns, saying the initiative should not be left to Government workers and security services alone.

Minister Nguluvhe made the remarks today during the National Clean-Up Campaign held at the Beitbridge Border Post under the theme “Zero Waste Movement.”
The minister joined members of the Beitbridge District Joint Operations Command (JOC), led by Major Wellington Kuchinani, ZIMRA officials, security services and other stakeholders in the clean-up exercise.

The campaign was conducted in line with the Presidential directive for national clean-up campaigns to be held on the first Friday of every month.
Minister Nguluvhe urged members of the public to lead by example by actively participating in efforts to keep their communities clean.

“All civilians should lead by example. All council members should also attend these clean-up campaigns. It is not for civil servants only, it is not for the Army, but for everyone,” said Minister Nguluvhe.
He said maintaining clean communities required the participation of all stakeholders and called for a collective approach towards achieving the Zero Waste Movement.
