TWO Cabinet Ministers, one Minister of State and three Deputy Ministers have arrived at the Zimbabwe Exhibition Centre to attend the inaugural Scholastic Tourism Conference being held as part of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Bulawayo.

The conference is being held under the theme: “Leveraging Heritage Based Education 5.0 for the Development of Tourism and Hospitality in Zimbabwe.”

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi and Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Amon Murwira and Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Apolonia Munzverengi are joined by Tourism deputy Tongai Mnangagwa, Industry and Commerce deputy Raj Modi and Joshua Sacco, the deputy for Transport and Infrastructural Development.

Prof Murwira is the guest of honour for the Scholastic Tourism conference whose aim is to leverage on education as a key cluster in the tourism and hospitality industry development strategy.
The conference is one of the activities at the ongoing 17th edition of the expo which kicked off on Wednesday at the Zimbabwe Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.

Overall, 408 companies registered to participate this year.
South Africa, Namibia, Malawi, Tanzania, Embassy of Iran, Angola and Nigeria registered to participate at the expo.
South Africa brought 10 operators and local authorities while Namibia brought six operators.
Tanzania, Botswana, and Angola are exhibiting under the Gastronomy Hub.
The exhibitors include those offering accommodation, travel agents and tour operators, transporters, publicity associations, airlines, service providers, Government departments and parastatals, tertiary institutions, events planners, local government, agro tourism players, sports tourism, gastronomy hub and foreign exhibitors.
“As tourism we want to align with Education 5.0,” said Minister Rwodzi.
