MUSTARD Seed Orphanage and Thorngrove Hospital are this year’s beneficiaries of the Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs fundraising ball proceeds.

Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo ts the fundraising ball on the eve of Independence Day every year. The proceeds are then donated to different charities in the city.

Bulawayo Provincial Administrator Mrs Khonzani Ncube presented the groceries to the two institutions on behalf of Cde Moyo.

Mrs Ncube said Cde Moyo deliberately timed the donation to coincide with the Christmas festivities in order to give a cheer to the inmates.

The groceries included sugar beans, rice, sugar, cooking oil and soap among other goodies.

“We  decided to celebrate Christmas with you and this was made possible by the Minister’s donation,” said Mrs Ncube.

She said the province will continue assisting vulnerable groups in society.

Mustard Seed Orphanage has 52 children.

Speaking after receiving the donation, an official from the orphanage, Mrs Thandekile Khumalo said the donation will go a long away in making Christmas an enjoyable day for the children.
