THE chief director for strategic planning and business development in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Mr Clemence Bwenje, has been appointed a director at the Centre of Co-ordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA).
SADC member states founded CCARDESA to harmonise the implementation of agricultural research and development in the region.
It seeks to address agricultural research and design issues in the SADC region by co-ordinating the implementation of regional agricultural programmes and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders of the national agricultural research systems.
The appointment became effective on July 1, 2022.
In an interview, Mr Bwenje said he was humbled by the development that will go a long way in adding value to the attainment of Vision 2030.
“I am very happy to be representing my country at regional level where I am a public sector representative.
“I will share my expertise with them since I have over 20 years of experience in strategic planning and business development.
“My role together with my other board members is to provide oversight and direction to the CCARDESA secretariat.
“We will participate in a committee of the board of directors, review and approve financial management systems and overall operational policies and strategic plans of CCARDESA,” said Mr Bwenje.
CCADESA is also instrumental in promoting public-private partnerships in regional agricultural research and development and improving agricultural technology generation, dissemination, and adoption in the region through collective efforts, training, and capacity building.
