IN a sad incident, an 11-year-old girl from Njube suburb discovered her grandmothera��s dead body hanging from the roof trusses of her bedroom.
The woman (59) reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself on a roof truss of her bedroom using a piece of cloth.
The body was discovered by her granddaughter around 2pm.
The minor advised a tenant at their house who then made a police report and they attended the scene.
Bulawayo Metropolitan Province acting police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident of sudden death.
a�?I can confirm having received a case of sudden death by hanging of a 59-year-old woman from Njube suburb. The woman is an alleged psychiatric patient on treatment with Ingutsheni Central Hospital.
a�?It is a pathetic incident that such an elderly woman resorted to taking her own life. Such people need special care and treatment from family members and the community at large. We advise members of the public to seek counselling when going through a difficult phase in life than resorting to taking their own lives,a�? he said.
Police have expressed concern on the increase of suicide cases urging people to seek counselling in case of difficulties in life.
a�?We urge members of the public to desist from taking their own lives despite the difficult phases they will be going through in their lives.
a�?Seeking counselling is always the best solution to any problems and so we advise people to engage third parties such as police, church elders, traditional leaders and even family members,a�? said Insp Ncube. .
