HOSTS Zimbabwe might have failed to make a big impression in the recent Triangular T20I series involving two of the world’s best cricket teams – Pakistan and Australia – but opening batsman Solomon Mire will probably remember the tournament for a long time.
His good performances lifted him high to his best career ranking.
Mire, who is now placed 25th in the world, rose an astronomical 202 places up the ladder, according to the rankings released by the International Cricket Council at the conclusion of the series.
Pakistan maintained their spot on the top of the T20I team rankings when they beat Australia in an epic final at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
Australia remained third, while Zimbabwe, who finished winless after playing four round-robin matches, were also unmoved on 12th place.
The hosts will always reflect to Mire’s innings which included a career best knock of 94 runs against Pakistan in one of the matches.
Mire was in such good form he ended the series as the third best run scorer with 212 runs under the belt.
And his huge leap on the table should also have made the world to take notice considering he only made his debut earlier this year in the T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
