ALBINISM Dare to Dream Initiative (ADDI) says this year’s edition of Mr and Miss Albinism Zimbabwe will be bigger and better.

The pageant will be held on August 27 at Casino Marino, Longcheng Plaza.

The pageant is an annual event, which has been taking place, for the past three years.

This fourth edition will be running under the theme “United in Making Our Voices Heard”.

Artists set to perform on the day include Leonard Zhakata, Tamy Moyo, Victor Kunonga, Feli Nandi, Dereck Mpofu, among others.

Organisers of the event took to their social media handles to highlight the aims of the pageant.

“The annual Mr and Miss Albinism, as a key activity and the organisation, aims primarily at building the confidence of people with Albinism and empowering them to meaningfully engage with and contribute socio-economically to the communities they live in.

“Through this initiative, ADDI intends to add its voice and efforts to advocating for and raising awareness on the need to ensure that rights of people with albinism are promoted, protected, fulfilled and respected.

“Through participating in this event, people with albinism gain personal recognition and development, self-confidence, interpersonal and communication skills, stress management skills, personal grooming skills and exposure and above all, advocacy skills,” they said.

ADDI also mentioned they want to expand beyond Zimbabwe.

“ADDI is in the process of expanding this beyond Zimbabwe to the rest of the African continent.

“To date, 25 African countries have expressed interest in participating in the continental pageant.

“The Albinism Dare to Dream Initiative hopes to host the Mr and Miss Albinism World pageant in the near future,” ADDI wrote.
