“We are growing from one level to another and I am happy to say that the search for the Miss Curvy Africa contest has started. The event is tentatively set for next year,” she said.
According to Mercy, any woman who has curves, physical beauty and keeps a flat tummy is eligible to enter the pageant as they do not need to have a serious modelling background.
She emphasised that women with brains, beauty, healthy and natural curves will be accepted for the international event.
“We are looking for models who are smart, beautiful with African healthy and well-rounded bodies not just big or obsese people,” she said.
The would-be contestants will have the opportunity to travel for the preliminaries in August and the winning country will host the next Miss Curvy Africa.
Mushaninga said all the Miss Curvy title holders will work on a project against hunger in Africa which is called Model Against Hunger in Africa their respective countries. She said there were a number of airlines that were willing to sponsor air tickets for the models. Malawi will host the Miss Curvy pageant in April.
“We are happy because some airlines have already pledged to help us with air tickets for the contest,” she said.
