The much-hyped Miss Heritage World has been scheduled for November 29 in Harare at the Harare International Conference Centre.
The event, which was supposed to be held this month in Victoria Falls at the same time with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation General Assembly as proposed by Government, has been shifted.
The pageant’s executive chairman, Tare Munzara, confirmed that the shift of dates was due to sponsorship challenges.
“The event was supposed to be held in August as proposed by Government, but sponsors’ plans couldn’t get through because they could not get enough mileage for advertisements.
“Also the fact that in Harare many sponsors and population are based in Harare, that’s where all the business takes place and there are many heritage features here,” said Munzara.
Pre-events will be held in Bulawayo, Mutare, Victoria Falls and other places in Zimbabwe which have many heritage features to make sure that delegates see the true Zimbabwe.
The pageant is expected to be attended by more than 100 countries with their beauty queens battling for the crown, but so far 42 countries has confirmed that they are coming.
World Beauty Pageant Organisation is ready for the world to experience Zimbabwe and the world also prepares to meet Zimbabwe as delegates are ready to come and battle for the coveted title Miss Heritage World, they have expressed their great excitement.
Munzara said he had a conversation with Miss Heritage Bahamas who said she was so excited to come to Africa.
Miss Heritage India Swati Kain said she was excited about the pageant as she hasn’t been anywhere outside India and this is going to be her first time.
Munzara also said Africa as well as Zimbabwe at large is going to benefit by hosting such a large event through gaining investors and tourists since it is known for being rich in raw materials.
“Looking at this programme in the next three years it will contribute to the development of the Gross Domestic Product which is one of the primary indicators used to gauge the health of a country’s economy,” he said.
The pageant aims at developing the nation as shown by their Millennium Development Goals which include eradicating poverty and unemployment, achieve universal primary education and develop a global partnership for development.
They also want to ensure that youths are being empowered as this is shown that through preparations for the event many youths are being employed such as fashion designers and photographers.
The pageant is also aimed at liberating and empowering the girl child by its well composed course structure and activities for the participants.
Zimbabwe will be represented by Thabiso Phiri, who was crowned Miss Heritage Zimbabwe at the Carnival Queen Zimbabwe pageant held at the Harare International Conference Centre in May.
