THE Miss Rural Zimbabwe pageant is gathering momentum towards its national finale, with 25-year-old Vigilence Mushonga of Murehwa crowned the 2026 Miss Rural Mashonaland East queen last Saturday.

Mushonga emerged victorious from a competitive field, securing the provincial crown and a place among contestants now looking towards the national grand finale set for September 27 at Heritage Village in Harare.

Tawananyasha Zamadenga was named first princess, while Anotida Dzungudza took the second princess title. Tafadzwa Maruta was named Ambassador Queen, with Tawananyasha Vumbunhu walking away with the Miss Personality title.

The pageant has so far been held in Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South and Matabeleland North, with Mashonaland East becoming the latest province to crown its representative for the national showcase.

Beyond the crowns and pageantry, Miss Rural Zimbabwe seeks to identify, nurture and promote modelling talent from rural communities while opening opportunities for aspiring models to pursue careers in the creative industry.

With provincial competitions now taking shape across the country, attention is turning to the national finale, where the various provincial representatives will battle for the Miss Rural Zimbabwe crown. The finale slated for September 27 at Heritage Village in Harare is expected to provide the contestants with a bigger platform to showcase their modelling skills, confidence and individuality while celebrating talent from Zimbabwe’s rural communities.
