BINGA beauty and reigning Miss Summer Strides Celine Sialumba has launched an online  Covid-19 vaccination campaign where she is encouraging the public, especially youths and creatives to get the jabs.

The country is on a massive drive towards achieving herd immunity for life to return to normal.
Cities like Victoria Falls have already achieved herd immunity and are now almost fully open for business.
Sialumba said as a role model, she felt compelled to encourage her peers to get vaccinated.

“As we all know that Covid-19 is affecting people worldwide, especially the youths who’ve been left with an unforeseeable future, it’s time that we get vaccinated.

“The recent partial reopening of churches for those who are vaccinated is a clear sign that it’s possible for arts events to resume only if people get vaccinated in their numbers. But before the public gets vaccinated, it’s a must that we in the arts sector lead the way and shun wrong and misleading information,” said Sialumba.

The beauty said the lockdown has greatly affected youths as they are struggling to make ends meet and are now being pushed over the edge leading to mental health problems.

“The lockdown is pushing the youths over the edge leading to mental disorders like depression and anxiety. If we get vaccinated, we all hope that lockdowns will be a thing of the past and in that sense, souls would have been saved.

“As Miss Summer Strides, I have projects that I want to pursue at Ingutsheni Central Hospital, but due to the pandemic and lockdowns, I haven’t been able to, which is frustrating,” she said.

Founder of Miss Summer Strides, Sipho Mazibuko weighed in and urged the public to get vaccinated for life to normalise.

“Covid-19 restrictions have really stopped our lives. It’s time that we get vaccinated, therefore, let’s go out there and get vaccinated because, with vaccination, everything will go back to normal,” Mazibuko said. – @mthabisi_mthire
