A new pageant – Miss Teen of the Universe Zimbabwe that celebrates teenage models allowing them to showcase their catwalk skills to the rest of the world, is set to be launched on 20 July at the De Lux Villa and Conference in Bulawayo.
Miss Teen of the Universe pageant was founded in India by Sourav Anad. The international parade caters to girls aged between 15 to 20 years. This beauty contest, distinct from Miss Teen Universe Zimbabwe, is set to take place on 3 August at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre Hall 2.
Businesswoman and stylist guru, Mitchell “Mimi” Tshuma will be the executive stylist for the pageant. It will run under the theme inspired by the Presidential philosophy “nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanini balo”, in line with Vision 2030.

Participants for the pageant should be Zimbabwean and must never have been married and have to hold a Zimbabwean passport. They must never have had photographic nudes or sexual videos.
To be considered for registration, models are required to bring at least a parent or guardian to boot camp activities.
Chidadiso Francisca Mbazo who is the public relations officer for Miss Teen of the Universe Zimbabwe, said the pageant is aimed at affording a chance to teenagers to realise their dreams.
“When coming up with this pageant, we saw it fit to affiliate ourselves with Sourav Anad who is the international Miss Teen of the Universe founder and director because he is a brand that is trusted and consistent when it comes to modelling.
“Many local pageants in Zimbabwe neglect teenage girls and focus more on older and mature participants. We took it upon ourselves to try and groom these girls from a young age so that they can be ready for the main industry.
“The main aim of the pageant is to promote our country’s heritage and culture on the international tourism stage. We’re running the pageant under the Presidential philosophy ‘nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanini balo’, in line with Vision 2030.
“We also aim to impact the fight against drug and substance abuse, gender-based violence, early child marriages and depression,” said Mbazo
Looking ahead, the organisers hope to introduce the pageant to male models and expand modelling activities across the country. Interested models can apply online, with physical auditions also set to be held in various cities and towns.
