Miss Universities contestants donate

after their visit to the medical centre that the group visited Kuwadzana, where they spent more than five hours with the children, taking them through their paces on different games.

Farisai Chibage, who is the Ochi City director and one of the organisers, said they decided to take the girls to RCM laboratories to get an appreciation on breast cancer and the dangers associated with it.
“The visit was in line with our concept of cultivating beauty with brains to equip them with knowledge, since we are commemorating the breast cancer month,” said Chibage.

This year’s Miss Universities pageant is slated for Ochi City on Saturday. It is aimed at giving a platform to students to show that they can do more than just books, by participating in different co-curricular activities. This year, models from universities in Bulawayo will take part in the pageant for the first time.

Launched in 2011, models of repute have passed through the able hands of different chaperons who have ensured that the pageant maintains high standards of professionalism. Some of the models include Miss Tourism Rumbidzai Mudzengerere and Miss Universe Zimbabwe Lisa Morgan.

Meanwhile, Chibage has applauded the corporate world for supporting the pageant.
“I would like to thank our sponsors especially Commissioner Oliver Chibage who has worked hard to make this project one of the best in the country,” said Chibage.

Miss Universities is the brainchild of Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner Oliver Chibage. The winner will automatically qualify to contest at the Miss Zimbabwe pageant.

Apart from the modelling extravaganza at the show, Alick Macheso, Dr Zobha, Saiwe and Suluman Chimbetu and Shatro among others are billed to perform.
Last year’s event was won by 21-year-old Ntokozo Sithole, who won the popular Miss Universities title in a fiercely contested pageant.
