THE late Kiki Divaris inspired many people across the globe, regardless of race and creed.

Paying particular interest to Zimbabwe she made a great impact in the modelling industry and socially.

In spite of her death, her legacy will live on and Miss World Zimbabwe feels compelled to honour the late modelling guru, who died at the age of 90 in December 2015.

Born Vassiliki Babaletakis Divaris, warmly known as Kiki Divaris succumbed to an illness, which sadly took her life.

Miss World Zimbabwe has dedicated this year’s edition to her as a way of commemorating her life.

This year, the pageant will run under the theme, Celebrating the life of our icon, Kiki Divaris.

Miss World Zimbabwe Trust Programmes and Communication manager Tendai Chirau said the organisation felt that

it was important to honour Divaris, who contributed immensely to the local modelling industry.

“This year we chose to honour Kiki through our theme. This is because Kiki was a patron for Miss Zimbabwe Trust, as most people know and she contributed immensely to the growth and development of modelling in Zimbabwe and even on the international platform,” said Chirau.

Chirau also said that she not only focused on the modelling industry but also worked hand in glove with children’s homes, as the philanthropist she was.

“Kiki worked with beauty and the needy. She was assisting children who were in need through her Child Survival Trust,” he said.

Chirau said the pageant will continue to honour Divaris, as they are scheduled to host a fashion show in April, in Harare, which will be dedicated to her.

“Besides the theme being centred on Kiki, we have a fashion show lined up to be held in Harare on the 1st of April.

This is when we will be having a ceremony, where we will be unveiling our Miss World finalists in Harare,” he said.

Chirau added that this edition would be different and better than the previous ones.

“This edition is going to be different. This is because we always try our best. For the first time, the finals will be held in Borrowdale Brooke. Also the event will be screened live on TV,” he added.

Chirau said that models will be in Boot Camp from 15 March.

The finals for the pageant are scheduled to be held in April in Harare.
