Preparations for Miss Zimbabwe Cape Town to be held at the Cape Town City Hall on September 5 are at an advanced stage with organisers of the pageant promising a big event. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, events director Taona Kandemiri said they have been working tirelessly to make sure they come up with an event of a lifetime.
“We are aiming to produce a memorable event so the preparations have been hectic yet exciting, from finding the perfect venue to finding good talented artists to perform on the event, but everything is almost under control now and we are just waiting for the big day,” Kandemiri said.
The pageant which is a brain child of Miss Zimbabwe Diaspora will see 14 Zimbabwean beauties from Cape Town and Western Cape region battling out for the crown and the pageant is running under the theme, ‘Empowering the girl child’.
Kandemiri also said they have invited various artists who are billed to perform at the event.
“We have invited various artists of different genres so that everyone who is attending can enjoy the show. The guest artists to perform at the show include; Sebede, a jazz group called The Mind Colony and Jasqia a young talented hip hop artist from Zimbabwe only to mention a few.
“We want to show our Zimbabwean beauty and culture in other countries so that they can understand it.
“It’s also about being proud of being Zimbabwean and not being afraid to be recognised as one in a foreign land,” he said.
Miss Zimbabwe Cape Town was first held last year and saw Charlene Phiri being crowned queen, Wilma Munemo and Tanyaradzwa Mukarakate walked away as first and second princess respectively.
