Belinda Moyo (17) and Nyasha Zidana (18), both from Beitbridge town, were crowned first and second princesses respectively.
The event is being coordinated by the Miss Zimbabwe Trust and more regional finals are lined up throughout the country before the end of the year.
The event was spiced up by entertainment from Leprechaun, a local up-and-coming artiste who put up a flawless performance.
In an interview soon after clinching the title, the excited Langalanga said she was happy to represent Matabeleland South, adding that she was looking forward to doing well at the national finals.
She attributed her victory to confidence and determination.
“I want to bring a positive change in the modelling industry in the province and the country at large through initiating self-help and economic empowerment programmes for communities. I will concentrate on programmes meant to benefit especially the underprivileged girl child.
“I am very grateful for the support I have been getting from my friends and family. Modelling has always been my dream since my childhood and I will stop at nothing to achieve my goal,” said Langalanga.
Pageant coordinator Yvonne Chiwara described the event as a great success and thanked all the players and sponsors for their support.
She said the idea was to identify models that represented the true aspirations of Zimbabwe and its communities.
“We want to come up with a set of models with good looks, who have the confidence and depict and uphold Zimbabwe’s cultural and economic aspirations. We have lined up a number of regional beauty contests,” said Chiwara.
