Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah and Jacob Moyana are set to present a triple treat for music fans at a gig scheduled for tonight at Mbare Netball Complex.
Dubbed “Big Friday Music Extravaganza”, the show is being organised by Chipaz Promotions and has all the makings of a thriller given the appeal of the musicians on the line-up.
Moyana has already fired warning shots saying that his set would be different in that he will give fans a foretaste of his upcoming album “Madhiri Nemazheti”.
In an earlier interview, the musician said he could not reveal the play-list for fear of copycats.
“It is unfortunate I can’t give you the play-list since some urban groovers have been using some of my titles for their songs. I will only release the full play-list at the launch of the album,” he said.
However, fans should expect some rib-cracking songs that they have come to know since he burst on the music scene.
“For some reason I cannot change the way I compose songs because that’s what made me and fans love me for that. The moment I start singing about ‘Mwari Akanaka’ people will dismiss my music outright so I would rather continue with WHAT I know best,” he said.
On one hand Jah Prayzah who is still basking in newly found fame with the release of his album “Kumbumura Mhute” is set to stand his ground.
Jah Prayzah is arguably the man of the moment in mainstream music. He wrote his own piece of history at the 13th edition of the National Arts Merit Awards by winning a record four gongs including for Outstanding Male Musician, Outstanding Album (Tsviriyo), Outstanding Song (Tsviriyo) and the most coveted People’s Choice Award.
He has taken his brand to another level and he is one youngster to watch out for in the near future. Jah Prayzah is the sort of musician who does not belong to a particular genre and it is difficult to pigeon-hole his music.
However, what is known about him is that he plays nice music. Music that moves revellers.
He continues to collaborate with other musicians in the studio and at shows.
And to cap it all will be none other than Macheso aka Baba Sharo or Extrabasso.
Hate or like him, Extrabasso has become the doyen of sungura.
He defies his age whenever he takes to the stage.
Partson Chimbodza said as Chipaz Promotions they would continue giving fans value for money in terms of shows.
“Firstly, we urge music lovers to turn up in their numbers and secondly, we are going to continue organising exciting combinations across all genres. Remember the gig is dubbed Big Friday and it’s a must attend,” he said.
