adminThe Act entitles all traditional healers, prophets, faith healers and spirit mediums in Zimbabwe claiming to have healing powers to register with the Zimbabwe Traditional Medical Practitioners Association. This comes after The Christ Embassy founded as Believers’ Love World Incorporated was banned in South Africa.
The Christ Embassy is an international organisation headed by televangelist Pastor Chris Oyakhilome known as Pastor Chris.
Social networks were yesterday clogged with comments over the two prominent prophets.
Some people said the prophets should comply with the Act while others were against their registering, saying churches should not be associated with traditional healers.
Among those who want the prophets to register was Mr Taurai Musendeki who said all who claim to be prophets should be registered.

“Guys I am actually surprised there are people who believe that there are no such things as false prophets . . . False prophets exist, we read everyday about these false prophets sleeping with other people’s wives and stealing money. That’s why it’s important that people are registered,’’ said Mr Musendeki.
Another reader, Mr Chinjanja Guvheya Muroro, said if they have nothing to hide and able to heal people, why should they not just comply with the law.
“Actually, this is for their own protection because anything can happen during these healing sessions. Tanzwa nemabogus prophets, women and girls are raped, they should be licensed to practice just like any other medical personnel,” he said.
Mr Shadreck Medzani also asked what proof the prophets had that showed they worked for God.
He said laws were there to protect citizens against bogus prophets and thousands of citizens have fallen prey to “so called prophets”.
Those who supported the prophets for not registering said Christian organisations should not be associated with traditional healers’ organisations.
“Why fight men of God? Does this mean that all bishops and pastors need to register . . . why pick on the two?” Mr Brighton Mushoriwa asked.
Mr Farai Nhavira said regulations should not be set for Christians by non-Christians.
“As Christians we have our own values and culture. I don’t believe in regulations being provided for by those who are not Christians. Remember very well that saying from Jesus which says ‘if you are not for us then you are against us’.
“Let us have an understanding on the sense of registering.
“I think we have lost direction on this particular issue and by no means we shall tame Holy Spirit if it is true Holy Spirit,” he said.

In South Africa Christ Embassy was banned to continue with its 52 week long advertising campaign that proclaimed that the church could heal people infected with HIV, tuberculosis and cancer among other diseases.
