Not content with just being another voice in the world famous and multi-talented Joyous Celebration choir, Zimbabwean crooner Mkhululi Bhebhe is branching out as he can now add the title of musical director to his resume.
The Bulawayo-born singer was at the helm of the Praise Family Day concert, a gospel extravaganza that was attended by hundreds at Germiston Lake in South Africa last Saturday afternoon.
Bhebhe was pulling the strings on the day that was graced by three other Joyous Celebration members.
After the gospel extravaganza, Bhebhe took to his Facebook page to tell fans of his own personal growth from a singer to a fully fledged musical director.
a?Yesterday was epic. It was my first ever production as a musical director. It was such a great feeling to see the Praise Family Day at Germiston Lake come to life,a? he posted.
The singer also hinted that Saturdayas showing would not be his last in his newly adopted role.
a?Next year we go bigger and better. Sibusiso Desmond a?Noaha? Mthembu, Sphumelele Mbambo, Nobathembu Mabeka Mhlongo thank you so much for pouring your hearts out on that stage. It was a pleasure working with you,a? he wrote as he paid tribute to his fellow Joyous members.
In an interview from his South African base, Bhebhe said that he was not content with just being a member of Joyous Celebration, as he wanted to explore other avenues in his career.
a?Time waits for no man and I would also like to explore other talents that I believe I possess. I will see as time goes what else I sink my teeth into,a? he said.
