AWARD-WINNING gospel musician, Everton Mlalazi, says despite coming from humble beginnings, he kept believing in God.

The ‘‘Ndomutevera’’ hit-maker chronicled his journey during the launch of his album, In His Presence Volume 2-God’s Grace, at City Hall, in Bulawayo.

The album carries ten tracks.

He said his life is a testimony of God’s grace and what he went through should be an inspiration to someone going through difficulties.

Through his music, Mlalazi has created a vibrant sound that is inspired by his love for music and his humble upbringing.

“If you noted, In His Presence Volume 1, it was an introduction to Mlalazi, as you see in that album, there were a lot of collaborations.

“On this album, there is one collaboration with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, otherwise the rest of the songs are mine. This talks about my journey, that’s where you find ‘Ndomutevera muponesi’, Nyasha Dzashe, you find songs that are close to my heart, songs I grew up singing.”

He added: “I try to chronicle the journey that I have been through since I was young, how God has carried me to date,” he said.

Mlalazi’s musical background and passion date back to his school days.

“God gave me the ability to interpret his words through songs. I sing my heart out, I want to tell my story and encourage someone.

“Someone sees me today and I am a testimony of God’s grace. If people listen to music, it’s also good for their personal journey.

“The songs remind me of the days where I didn’t have anything and, despite all that I said, ‘Ndomutevera Jesu’, always follow the master.

“This is a series of inviting people into the presence of God.”

He added: “Last time we came for the homecoming concert here in Bulawayo, now we want to solidify our position.

“We have videos to songs like ‘Nomakunje’, I surrender, all the songs on the album have videos, stage performance videos.

“We going for In Presence Volume 3.

“As musicians, sometimes we have many songs, once the songs are ready, you will see Volume 3.”

He plans to take the music everywhere.

“We are going to take all the launches into other parts of Zimbabwe. This is the message everyone must listen to, we push our music, through Mathew 28, therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them.

“We are going to South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia and many other countries, because this gospel has to be preached everywhere.”
