While most gigs featuring music heavyweights from South Africa are mostly all out parties, Bulawayo’s 3D Events is looking to give revellers a taste of love and elegance when South Africa’s Mlindo the Vocalist makes his debut appearance in the City of Kings on 23 February at BAC Leisure.
The events company believes that South Africa’s man of the moment will be the crowning glory of February, the month of love, as his music is in line with the kind of atmosphere that they want to create on a night when couples are expected to shine.
Mlindo was perhaps the breakthrough act of 2018, with his album Emakhaya earning him plaudits while it also went gold in three months.
His vocals on such hits as AmaBlesser and Amacala had seen him gain a legion of followers in a short space of time.
In an interview, Mduduzi Mdlongwa of 3D Events said the Amacala hit-maker’s appearance would liven up a gig that was supposed to introduce new concepts on the local entertainment scene.
“We’re calling it the Big Tent Party because we want people to enjoy in a spacious area. We don’t want anyone to be claustrophobic so it’s an extension of the space that people usually enjoy in the club or any other place like that.
“This is also the month of love and so we want to create an ambience and atmosphere in which those in love can enjoy,” he said.
Mdlongwa added that they had partnered with local companies who would also help in creating a party environment that was unique in Bulawayo.
“We’ve managed to partner with local companies and they’re the ones that will help create this atmosphere that I’m talking about.
“For example we’ve partnered with two companies that will be giving wine to the ladies that attend on the night.
“Such small things will go a long way in creating the atmosphere that we’re looking for,” he said.
Mdlongwa said although the country was going through tough times economically, he was confident that people would come in their numbers to watch Mlindo perform in the City of Kings for the first time.
“We’re not worried about a flop because we believe that we’re giving people what they want.
“Basically with the current economic conditions it is wise not to experiment because the safest thing to do is to bring acts that people actually want to see.
“You bring acts that give people value for money and I think that people want Mlindo right now and that’s what we will deliver,” he said.
Dancehall duo Judgment Yard will be the supporting act on a night where the cheapest tickets will go for R200.
