The Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ) is increasing its presence across the country through the licensing of sub-agencies to ensure that the nation fully benefits from its minerals.

The move is expected to benefit medium-scale corporates and small-scale miners.

So far, MMCZ has issued 23 permits to sub-agencies across the country.

Ten of the 23 sub-agencies were introduced to Hurungwe traditional chiefs and miners who are attending a two-day engagement meeting organised by the MMCZ in Karoi.

MMCZ’s Sales Executive (Diamonds and Precious Stones), Mr Ezekiel Mafara told the meeting that the mining sector is a major contributor to the country’s economic growth.

He said mechanisms are being put in place to maximise returns for all stakeholders through efficient marketing services.

Hurungwe Kariba Miners Association (Hukama) secretary for training and development, Ms Tania Mumba commended the move.

Chief Dandawa, born Try Manyepa, said the district should benefit from its minerals.
