HIS face trended like wild fire on social media on Valentine’s Day where he was dubbed the unfortunate man who was stood up by his wife leaving him stranded with a bouquet of flowers.
Now, Tanyaradzwa Kamarizeni wants to turn that drama, where he was reduced into a symbol of mocking, and wants to turn the drama into an opportunity for growth.
He was in the company of saxophonist Big Star Nash and his images and videos were widely circulated on social media platforms on Valentine’s Day.
There were some misleading claims that he had wanted to surprise his wife and only found out that she was off duty on that day.
The incident took place at Speke City Mall at the corner of Sam Nujoma and Speke Avenue in Harare.
Although the events which unfolded seemed so real, H-Metro has established that the reports which were circulating were not true.
Tanyaradzwa says he was on duty to deliver a Valentine’s Day gift, on behalf of a man who is based in South Africa, and has only been identified as Jimmy.
The flowers were meant for Jimmy’s wife Debra.
He was supposed to meet up with Jimmy’s sister, who had other gifts, and he called her to check her location.
However, the call was misinterpreted and videos were splashed on social media claiming he had failed to locate his wife.
“I am not the woman’s husband, I was just making a delivery at Speke City Mall and, as I made it clear in my press statement, I was only making a call to the aunt to include her presents in the surprise.
“I would like to look at the bright side of the whole situation as something that has brought a positive impact on my brand ‘Ray Kayz Events’, people now know of my business and craft.
“Ever since the drama, I now have a decent following on my Facebook and Instagram pages hence this is something to smile about,” said Tanyaradzwa.
“I am aware of the negative comments on social media but they will not destroy me because I am learning from this experience and using it to find a silver lining in such a challenging situation.
“For me, this is an opportunity for growth and collaborations, it’s also a chance to learn to adapt to such situations and be proactive in responding to my work,” he said.
Tanyaradzwa has been in the events business for almost five years now. He has served some notable clients, including sungura superstar Alick Macheso and Sulumani Chimbetu.
Recently, Tanyaradzwa planned musician Batsirai Shasha’s lobola day.
He also spoke about hugs.
“I do that a lot to most of my clients, it was just a friendly hug nothing more, I am sorry to Debra for all the trolls she is facing because of my actions.
“She was in her shop when all this was transpiring outside and people must not spoil a love moment by speculating lies,” he said.
Big Star Nash has also cleared the air.
“Yes, we attracted a scene yet this was only supposed to be a simple delivery on behalf of a client.
“Tanyaradzwa and I were only on work-related duty and we are related to the woman in question,” he said.
