AS the countdown to the Miss Earth draws nearer, Courteny Tadiwanashe Jongwe is leading the race to the title of Miss People’s Choice among the African contestants.
Jongwe is representing Zimbabwe at Miss Earth in Vietnam.
It is scheduled for December 22
The models are grouped into four categories – Africa, Europe, Asia & Oceania and Americas.
The top two, with the highest score from each group, will be announced on December 20 and enjoy the privilege of tripling voting points within 48 hours.
If she wins the People’s Choice, she will be granted a direct entry into the top 20 finalists.
At the 23rd edition, Jongwe’s advocacy focuses on climate action, the 13th Sustainable Development Goal of the UN.
She said her advocacy efforts are focussed on taking action addressing plastic pollution.
Miss Earth is an annual international major beauty pageant that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation and social responsibility.
Along with Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss International, it is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
