Mokis Connection member goes solo

Samarongo, as he is affectionately known by his fans, left the band that he had been with for the past 10 years and collaborated with Mordechai Chauke, who was Nduna “Ndux Malax” Malaba’s lead guitarist.
The man who became famous in Mokis Connection due to his iBhara Ngamazinyo act, said he then sought sponsorship which he got from Maseko who believes the artistes still have a long way to go.
Mathe is the man who used to ‘pick’ up a wheelbarrow with his teeth, while fellow band members chanted Ibhara Ngamazinyo, much to the enjoyment of fans.
“I left the band after some financial constraints that were threatening to make me not meet my responsibilities,” said the dread locked artiste.
“I am very grateful to Mr Maseko who came to my rescue after I had collaborated with Chauke,” he said.
Maseko helped him get back on stage, as his whole life had changed for the worst because he was failing to get shows where he could give people the best of his performances and also make a living.
“When funds ran dry, I did not know what to do. That is when Mr Netshani Maseko came to my rescue and sponsored me with the equipment to get my shows up and running again,” said Samarongo.
Maseko said, he had always been a fan of Mokis Connection and when he heard that one of its band members was struggling, he was willing to support him.
“I have always been a fan of Mokis Connection. It was sad when I got word that one of its talented members was trying to start something of his own, but failing to make ends meet,” said the All Stars Music Sponsor.
Maseko said he met a few people from South Africa and was on a mission to do what it took to actually see Samarongo back on his feet and thrilling fans with his dance moves.
With Maseko coming to the rescue, the former Mokis Connection band member had so far managed to release a six-track album titled Samarongo feat S’cathulompama:Boyoyo and Mthimbani Sound Blasters and to mention are tracks like Irene, Samarongo and Ethandweni.”
The musician-cum-entertainer professed utter discontent over piracy.
“Piracy is killing the music industry and it has washed away the great efforts made by many artistes down the drain,” said the entertainer with an underlying tone of anger.
The vibrant musician also stated that for the upcoming shows people should look forward to him sharing the stage with his band members under the Boyoyo and Mthimbani banner.
“I am going to be performing in Plumtree and Victoria Falls where I will be sharing the stage with my fellow band members most of whom hail from Kezi where I also come from,” he said.
The manager assured fans that the sky was the limit for Boyoyo and Mthimbani Sound Blasters and also requested for stiffer penalties on everyone involved in piracy.
“I foresee a very bright future for Boyoyo and Mthimbani Sound Blasters and I promise all the fans that I will stand by them through thick and thin.
“I also request for stiffer penalties on all those indulging in piracy,” he said.
