Mokoomba off to Europe

 

prestigious festivals in mainland Europe, Ireland as well as North Africa.

The band’s manager, Marcus Gora, expressed his delight over the tour while stressing that  they will return home stronger than ever.

“It is such a great achievement for Mukoomba and, most importantly, a wonderful opportunity for us to continue to showcase Zimbabwean culture through music.

“We hope the band can learn and grow as well from the experience,” he said
Gora also spoke of the group’s preparedness to entertain their foreign fans and that they are set to give them a run for their money.

“We used our Hifa closing concert with Baaba Maal to unveil our new performance. We are ready to thrill our fans with more polished performances.

“We will definitely miss home but people can expect us to resume our performances as soon as we return,” he said.

Their first appearance during the tour will be today at the Espace Delvaux Festival in Brussels, Belgium.
The rest of the festivals will take place in Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, parts of the United Kingdom, Morocco, Algeria, Sweden and Hungary.
They will, however, conclude with a show at the Helsinki Festival in Finland on August 17.

“Rising Tide”
They will also take the opportunity to promote their second album “Rising Tide”.
The Victoria Falls-based band bad farewell to their local fans in style on Friday at the Book Café.

The youthful group comprises six members – Abandance Mutovi, Mathias Muzaza, Costa Moyo, MacDonald Moyo, Trustworth Musende and Miti Mugande – who have been performing together since their childhood days in Binga.

The name Mokoomba is a Tonga word that denotes the mighty Zambezi River, which is a rich source of life in the Tonga culture.
