PARENTS and guardians have been urged to closely monitor the behaviour of their children.

The call was made by a health official on Unity Day where orphans and elderly women received food hampers in Goromonzi.

Chinyika Clinic Medical Sister-in-Charge, Melody Maremera, said mental health issues have been on the rise in the past few months.

“Our children are being robbed of their talents and future by the illicit drugs they are taking,” said Maremera.

“A number of patients being attended to within this area are victims of drug abuse. Most of the young children being attended to have mental health problems.

“We are appealing to parents and guardians to closely monitor what their children eat and drink.
