Shooting Stars had a goal from Silas Chihota disallowed after the referee Pascal Zata judged the he had fouled the goalkeeper.
Monomotapa assistant coach Nkululeko Dhlamini praised his charges for the three points and is confident of more positive results.
“It was a good performance from the guys and it has been long since we tasted a win.
“We could have scored more had our strikers been accurate but three points is three points.
“This win will go a long way in lifting the players’ confidence as we have been failing to win in our previous matches,” said Dhlamini.
Shooting Stars assistant coach Tonderai Marime blamed their disallowed goal for being the major turning point of the match.
“We failed to utilise our chances but I think we had a genuine goal which was disallowed.
“To me striker and the goalkeeper had a fair contact but it’s a game and we have to move on.
“We are not demoralised by the defeat and I am sure we can come back strong in our next games.
“We are still trying to build a strong side and I think the team is improving because before we came the team had no points but we have managed to win some points.
