ANTICIPATION is growing among Mokoomba fans as the group gears up for the release of their album.
Five years after the release of their last album Luyando, the Afro fusion outfit will on Friday release Tusona: Tracing in the Sand.
The album carriers 13 tracks – Tamvela Mama, Nyansola, Ndipe, Manina, Munaye, Makisi, Bakalubale, Kandonga, Nzara Hapana, Makolo, Kulindiswe (Remix), Njawane (Remix), Kumukanda (Remix).
The music speaks to a number of social issues and some traditional stories.
On the album, they have featured other artists for the first time.
They include DeSOLO B from Democratic Republic of Congo, based in Zimbabwe, on the song titled Makolo. The song talks about the importance of providing young children with quality education for a better future. On May 20, Mokoomba kicked off their ‘Tusona Summer Tour’ to promote their upcoming album.
The Tonga outfit, who have won the hearts of many, will be touring seven countries on three continents.
Their tour will come to an end on July 30.
Mokoomba recorded ‘Tusona: Tracings in the Sand’, the follow-up album to ‘Luyando’ (2017, Outhere), in Zimbabwe during the pandemic.
This album was entirely recorded in a DIY fashion by Mokoomba.
