The 114th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (ZAS) will feature more than 560 exhibitors from different sectors of the economy compared to last year’s 500.
The more than 560 exhibitors will take more than 78 224 square metres of the available space.
About 289 exhibitors including foreigners have so far taken up 58 483 96 square metres of exhibition space.
This year’s event will run from Monday, August 26 to Saturday August 31.
The official opening is scheduled for Friday, August 30.
About 250 000 visitors across Zimbabwe and the region representing a diverse audience are also expected.
Harare’s Exhibition Park has business conferences and entertainment events lined up for the annual event, where farmers get the opportunity to showcase their produce.
The event will run under the theme “Cultivating Prosperity. Growing Business. Innovating for change. Nurturing our future”, displaying the its commitment to driving the growth, sustainability and transformation of Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector.
Speaking during a press conference on preparations for this year’s show, ZAS chief executive officer, Dr Andrew Matibiri, said the preparations were at an advanced stage, adding that intense activities and efforts by stakeholders from various sectors of the economy are pointing towards a successful agricultural show.
“This year’s theme resonates deeply with our mission to showcase the industry’s remarkable achievements, cutting edge solutions and boundless potential.
“It will also offer unparalleled opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing and forging invaluable connections within the industry. This platform will create valuable opportunities for exhibitors to engage in meaningful discussions, explore potential partnerships and identify new avenues for business expansion.”
Dr Matibiri said they have acquired the latest technology on security to ensure public safety, where children will be tagged with the support of partners, adding that motor vehicle movement will be restricted within the business hub during the show.
Various sections including livestock and agricultural produce have various sponsors who have shown interest.
The Glamis Arena programme will feature live performances by renowned local artistes.
Fireworks displays will be held on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. ZAS is a key event on the national calendar where the resilience of farmers, agribusinesses and agricultural stakeholders showcase their skills. It underscores the crucial role agriculture plays in the country.
